Laura Safred was born in Trieste in 1951. Studies in Literature and Philosophy in Trieste, specialization in the History of Art in Bologna. From 1980 to 1989 conservator of the Trieste Modern Art Gallery. From 1989 to 1999 independent curator of 20th-century Italian art exhibitions and contemporary artists in public institutions in Austria, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia. From 1999 to 2009, Professor of Contemporary and Modern Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts from Urbino, where she worked on the Erasmo program and where she was president of the Scenography Course; currently she’s president of the Academy’s Evaluation Unit. Since 2010 he has taught History of Modern Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and she’s the referent of the European Leonardo program for the academies on the project “Creativity, projects and professions”. Since 2008 she has been working with the Experimenteller Architektur Forum in Vienna for the research projectArte e liberazione nello spazio dell’Europa centro-orientale 1943-1967, for which she has carried out reports on Italian art in international seminars in Bratislava, Brno and Sibiu.
Research themes: art and history of political monuments in the twentieth century, history and criticism of art graphics.
